Barn Find 1946 1.5 Ton Panel on Ebay
Posted on 17 April 2016
Holy moly, this has to be just about the gosh darn sweetest Chevy panel truck I have ever seen. Listed on Ebay after 40 years of indoor storage, it looks to be incredibly original. It is very rare to find a vehicle from this era wearing original paint this strong, much less a work truck. Also surprising is the condition of the body. It's a bit banged up, but doesn't appear to suffer from significant rust. A talented body man could more than likely bang out the dents in the rear doors without doing too much damage to the paint. The wood floors are also surprisingly intact.
Chevy offered two stove bolt six engines in 1946, the 216 and 228. I would venture to guess that this truck has the larger of the two, though the seller doesn't mention which it has. Though the truck apparently runs and drives after the seller gave it a light refresh, it would be a good idea to pull the engine apart to get a better idea of its condition, as well as fully rebuild the brake system. Parts are still fairly easy to come by for these trucks so a light refresh shouldn't set the buyer back too much. Just please, don't repaint it.
